These terms apply to the use of this website and to quotations and works provided by Charge Building Services Ltd, C/O MG Tax, 166 College Road, Harrow, England HA1 1BH. You can contact us on 07500 028806 or at tom@cbsdamp.co.uk. Where a written quotation or contract for works includes its own terms, those terms apply to that work.

The information on this website is provided for general guidance about the services we offer. Damp and building defects vary from property to property, so nothing on this website is advice about a specific property. A diagnosis and specification can only be given following a survey of the property in question.

Surveys and quotations

Surveys, diagnosis and quotations are provided free of charge and without obligation within the areas we cover. Quotations are given as a fixed price for a clearly defined scope of work, and are based on what was visible and accessible at the time of the survey.

Where hidden defects or conditions are found once work has started that could not reasonably have been identified during the survey, we will stop, explain the position and agree any change in scope and price with you in writing before continuing.

A quotation remains open for acceptance for the period stated on it. Works are booked in once the quotation is accepted and the deposit is received.

Payment terms

Unless stated otherwise in writing on your quotation:

• 50% of the agreed price is payable as a deposit to secure the booking and materials
• The remaining 50% is payable on completion of the works
• Payment is made by bank transfer

Access and site conditions

You agree to provide safe and reasonable access to the working areas on the agreed dates, together with access to water and electricity where the works require it. Furniture, floor coverings and belongings should be removed from the working areas before we start unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Delays caused by access not being available may affect the programme.

Guarantees

Damp proofing treatment carries a 10-year workmanship guarantee issued by the company, together with a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee provided independently through QANW. General building works carry a 6-month workmanship guarantee.

Guarantees cover the workmanship and the treatment we have carried out within the scope quoted. They do not cover new or unrelated defects arising after completion, damage caused by others, lack of maintenance, alterations to the treated areas, or damp arising from a cause outside the scope of the works we were instructed to carry out. The terms of the insurance-backed guarantee are set by the guarantee provider and are supplied with the guarantee documentation.

Insurance

We hold £2,000,000 public liability insurance. Details can be provided on request, for example to a managing agent, landlord or freeholder.

Cancellation

Where you are a consumer and have entered into a contract with us away from our business premises, you have the statutory right to cancel within 14 days of entering into the contract. If you have asked us to begin work during that period, you may be required to pay for work already carried out and materials already supplied. To cancel, tell us in writing using the contact details above.

Liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud. We are not liable for pre-existing defects, for the condition of parts of the property outside the scope of the works, or for consequential loss that was not foreseeable.

Complaints

If something is not right, contact us as soon as possible on the details above so we can inspect it and put it right. We would always rather resolve an issue directly.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
