Local coverage
Our registered address is in Harrow, which puts us in the middle of the Middlesex towns we cover: Pinner, Wembley, Ruislip, Northwood, Stanmore, Edgware, Eastcote, Uxbridge and Hayes. Being local means short journeys, easy return visits and surveys arranged around your schedule rather than a fixed route.
Middlesex housing is dominated by the interwar expansion that followed the railways. Street after street of 1920s and 1930s semi-detached and terraced housing, with early cavity walls, bay fronts, tile-hung or rendered upper elevations and original bitumen damp proof courses. Alongside that there are older solid-wall terraces and cottages in the town centres and village cores, and substantial 1930s detached housing around Pinner, Northwood and Stanmore.
Nearly all of it has been altered. Rear extensions, converted garages, loft conversions, new drives and patios, replacement windows and modern insulation have all changed how these houses handle moisture, and are behind a large share of the damp we are called to.
We survey free of charge across Middlesex, with calls taken Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm.
1920s and 1930s semis and terraces, older solid-wall cottages, 1930s detached housing, garage and loft conversions and rear extensions.
Bridged cavities and raised drives, damp in converted garages, failed bitumen DPCs, and render and pebbledash repairs.
Harrow-based, so return visits and follow-up on guarantee work are straightforward rather than a special trip.
Services in Middlesex

A failed damp proof course is diagnosed, treated with an accredited Sovereign or Wykamol system and replastered to a decoration-ready finish, priced as a fixed sum before any work starts, and guaranteed for ten years.
Rising damp treatment in Middlesex
Damp that worsens after rain is coming in from somewhere. We find the route: pointing, render, sills, gutters or roof detail; correct it, then repair the wall inside. Free survey, fixed price, no guesswork.
Penetrating damp treatment in Middlesex
Find out exactly what is causing the damp, what it takes to fix it, and what it costs, in writing, at a fixed price, with no charge for the visit and no obligation to proceed.
Damp surveys & diagnosis in Middlesex
Below-ground rooms need a waterproofing system, not a coat of damp-seal paint. Membrane and cementitious tanking specified to suit the structure, installed as an approved Sovereign and Wykamol contractor, with a free survey and a fixed price.
Structural waterproofing & tanking in Middlesex
The replaster is half of any damp repair. We remove contaminated plaster, apply the specified salt-retardant system and leave a flat, decoration-ready finish, as part of a fixed price, by the same contractor that treated the wall.
Plastering in Middlesex
Cracked, hollow or blown render holds water against your masonry. We identify why it failed, repair or renew it with a system suited to the substrate, and fix the damp it was causing inside.
Rendering in Middlesex
Open joints and spalled brick faces are the most common route for penetrating damp. We cut out properly, repoint in a mortar matched to your brick, and replace masonry that has broken down.
Brickworks & repointing in Middlesex
Helical stainless bars bonded into the bed joints tie cracked brickwork back into one structure, a repair carried out from the outside, without rebuilding the wall, and finished so the crack disappears.
Brick stitching in Middlesex
Damp repairs rarely stop at the damp. We carry out the associated building work: masonry, render, plaster, joinery repairs and making good, so the job finishes with one contractor accountable for all of it.
General building in Middlesex
Treatment stops the damp; remedial work makes the room liveable again. Plaster, joinery, floors, decoration preparation and making good, completed by the contractor that did the specialist work, at a fixed price.

Local damp problems
Middlesex is dominated by housing from the 1920s and 1930s, and that stock has its own signature faults. Cavities are narrow and were built without today's care over debris, so mortar droppings and rubble at the cavity base are common and carry water across to the inner leaf.
Original bitumen damp proof courses are now around a century old. Combine an ageing DPC with decades of ground-level changes, new drives, block paving, patios and raised borders, and bridging becomes one of the most frequent causes of damp we find here.
Debris at the cavity base in interwar housing forms a path for moisture to cross from the outer to the inner leaf, producing damp patches above skirting level.
Block paving and patios laid over the original level bridge the DPC, letting ground moisture into the wall above it.
Cracked or hollow pebbledash holds water behind it and delivers it into the wall, often producing large diffuse damp patches indoors.
Garages converted to rooms frequently sit on a slab with no DPM and walls with no DPC, so the new room is damp from the day it is finished.
Rear extensions bring abutment flashings and low-slope roofs, both common sources of penetrating damp into the original rear wall.
New windows, doors and insulation reduce ventilation, so moisture condenses on cold corners and behind furniture and gets mistaken for rising damp.
Our process

In detail
Classic rising damp: a tide mark at a consistent height, salt bloom, hollow plaster and soft skirtings; occurs in the older solid-walled property in the Middlesex town centres and village cores, and where interwar bitumen DPCs have broken down. Treatment is an injected chemical DPC using an accredited Sovereign or Wykamol system, followed by removal of the salt-contaminated plaster and salt-retardant replastering.
In interwar housing, though, the more likely finding is bridging rather than DPC failure. A drive laid at the wrong level, a patio built over the airbricks, render carried down past the DPC, or rubble in the cavity will all produce damp that looks identical from inside.
That distinction changes the cost materially, which is why the survey comes first. Correcting a bridge can be a far smaller job than treating a wall, and we would rather tell you that than sell a treatment you do not need.
Middlesex has a lot of rendered and pebbledashed elevations, and when those finishes fail they make damp worse rather than better. Water gets behind a cracked or debonded coat, cannot escape, and is delivered into the wall over a wide area.
We cut out and repair or renew render, replace spalled brickwork, repoint in an appropriate mix, and put proper sill and drip details back so water is thrown clear of the wall. Where thermal movement or settlement has cracked masonry, commonly at bay junctions and over openings, helical brick stitching restores continuity so the crack stops reopening.
Garage conversions are one of the most consistent sources of damp complaints in Middlesex. The original structure was never built to habitable standards: often no floor damp proof membrane, no wall DPC, a floor slab lower than the house and an outer leaf designed to get wet.
Putting that right can mean a damp proof course, tanking to the lower part of the wall, an insulated and membraned floor build-up, or all three. We survey it and quote the actual scope rather than treating the wall surface and hoping.
Extensions bring their own faults, abutment flashings, low-slope roof details, and new floor levels tight against the old wall. Those are diagnosed from the pattern inside and the details outside.
Where a Middlesex property has a cellar or a lower-ground room, bringing it into use means structural waterproofing designed for water under pressure, cementitious tanking on sound masonry, or a cavity drain membrane with perimeter drainage and pumped or gravity discharge.
The junctions matter more than the flat areas: floor-to-wall returns, penetrations for services, and the steps and reveals. Those are detailed properly as part of an accredited system.

Often it is a bridged cavity or a raised drive or patio rather than a failed DPC. The survey establishes which, and correcting a bridge is usually a smaller job.
Yes. These usually need a combination of damp proofing, tanking to the lower wall and a proper membraned floor build-up, which we specify after surveying it.
Damp treatment carries a 10-year company workmanship guarantee plus a separate 10-year QANW insurance-backed guarantee. Building works carry a 6-month workmanship guarantee.
